2nd October 1950 – The first strip of Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts is released.

A group of children and a white dog with black ears make up Peanuts, a daily comic written and illustrated by Charles Monroe Schulz, published from 2 October 1950 to 13 February 2000 (the day after the author’s death). A comic book saga that entered the Guinness Book of Records as the most popular comic of all time. In the beginning the characters were just Charlie Brown, Shermy, Patty and the dog, Snoopy. But soon the strip began to focus especially on Charlie Brown, a stubborn, shy and insecure child in love with “a red-haired girl”, Violet, who will be added at a later time. Over the years Shermy and Patty appear more rarely, while new characters are inserted: Schroeder, Lucy van Pelt, selfish and mischievous, and her brother Linus. In the sixties the strip begins to devote more space to Snoopy, who will become the great protagonist of the history of Peanuts. Endowed with a fervid imagination, in the course of its long history he has personified hundreds of different characters: Joe Falchetto, Mickey Mouse, Charlie Brown’s younger sister, Sally, the bird Woodstock, a friend of Snoopy who speaks a language of his which for us is incomprehensible, Pigpen, the always dirty child, Spike, one of Snoopy’s brothers who lives in the desert and many more, telling stories in the strips that have fascinated children all over the world. The adventures of Snoopy and his companions have appeared in over 2,000 newspapers, reaching 355 million readers. Since 1970 the definition of “Linus blanket” has been officially included in Webster’s Dictionary, and the most prestigious museums in the world have dedicated exhibitions and retrospectives to Schulz. The result of fifty years of Shulz’s tireless work, the series was interrupted by the express will of the author, who, jealously claiming paternity, forbade any heirs to continue it.

International Day of Non-Violence – Gandhi Jayanti (birthday of Mahatma Gandhi) andhi Jayanti (birthday of Mahatma Gandhi)

International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It was established on 15 Jun 2007 according to United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/61/271. The day is an occasion to “disseminate the message of non-violence…through education and public awareness…and reaffirm the desire for a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence”. It is not a public holiday, but is observed around the world in various ways, often to draw attention to global issues.

In January 2004, Iranian Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi had taken a proposal for an International Day of Non-Violence from a Hindi teacher in Paris teaching international students to the World Social Forum in Mumbai. The idea gradually attracted the interest of some leaders of India’s Congress Party (“Ahimsa Finds Teen Voice”, The Telegraph, Calcutta) until a Satyagraha Conference resolution in New Delhi in January 2007, initiated by Indian National Congress President and Chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance Sonia Gandhi and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, called upon the United Nations to adopt the idea.

On 15 June 2007 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish 2 October as the International Day of Non-Violence.[4] The resolution by the General Assembly asks all members of the UN system to commemorate 2 October in “an appropriate manner and disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness”.

The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) in New York City prepared a special cachet to commemorate this event, following a request from the Indian Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of India to the UN. The boxed pictorial cachet design was prepared by the UNPA and was limited to cancellation at UNPA’s NY location (not Geneva and Vienna). The UNPA has indicated that all outgoing UNPA mail between 2 and 31 October carried the cachet.

Premier League – Manchester United-Everton 1-1, Chelsea take the lead after the 3-1 at Southampton. Leeds of Bielsa wins, white goals in Brighton-Arsenal

MANCHESTER (England) – Manchester United’s negative momentum in the Premier League continues. After the defeat with Aston Villa, in fact, the Red Devils are stopped on par by Benitez’s Everton and, in the event of a Liverpool win, they risk slipping to -3 from the top. Solskjaer initially chooses to keep Cristiano Ronaldo out by deploying Cavani in the center of the attack. The Uruguayan striker makes himself dangerous with a header in the 21st minute against which Pickford opposes. Manchester United unlocks the match at the end of the first half thanks to a blow from Martial on an assist from Bruno Fernandes. At 57 ‘Cristiano Ronaldo enters in place of Cavani but eight minutes later the Toffees find the same with a nice counterattack orchestrated by Doucouré and finalized by Townsend. At 73 ‘the former Juve tries with a diagonal that goes out on the bottom. At 81 ‘another Red Devils opportunity with a nice shot from distance by Pogba that comes out just a little. At 85 ‘Mina scores the goal of the advantage but the goal is canceled by the VAR due to an irregular position of the Colombian defender.

Chelsea take advantage of the equal of the Red Devils, win at home 3-1 against Southampton and take the provisional record of the standings waiting for Sunday’s big match between Liverpool and Manchester City. On the 8th minute of the first half, on the development of a corner kick, Chalobah in diving scores the goal of the advantage for the hosts. The Var becomes the protagonist at the end of the first half by canceling the goals of Lukaku (offside) and Werner (foul by Azpilicueta). The Blues failed to double and in the 61st minute came the penalty (foul by Chilwell) for the guests converted by James Ward-Prowse (later sent off after a bad foul on Jorginho). Thanks to the numerical superiority, Tuchel’s boys find the winning goal in the 85th minute: Barkley opens for Azpilicueta who, first of all, puts in the middle for the comfortable support of Timo Werner. The trio arrives 2 minutes later from Chilwell’s feet with a great left footed shot.

♬ CLAPTONE – Just A Ghost ft. Seal

This new song from 2021 with the collaboration of Seal is delicious. It has the sound of the 90s and it is also a sound that burst with danceable energy.

LYRIC

I lost you in the summer
Before the lake got cold
You found another lover
Before the leaves turned gold
The days are getting darker
The wind begins to blow
I lost you in the summer
Like angels in the snow

When the sun sets and the night falls
Shadows dance across the walls
We come to life and I pull you close
Even if you’re just a ghost

Just a ghost to me
Just a ghost to me
Just a ghost to me
Even if you’re just a ghost

Even if you’re just a ghost

I lost you in the summer
Before the lake got cold
But I can still remember
The dunes before they froze
There’s a light across the water
But I know that you’re not home
I lost you in the summer
But I never let you go

When the sun sets and the night falls
Shadows dance across the walls
We come to life and I pull you close
Even if you’re just a ghost

Just a ghost to me
Just a ghost to me
Just a ghost to me
Even if you’re just a ghost

Baby I don’t think I’m seeing things
To me you’re not a ghost
Baby I don’t think I’m seeing things
To me you’re not a ghost

When the sun sets and the night falls
Shadows dance across the walls
We come to life and I pull you close
Even if you’re just a ghost

Just a ghost to me
Just a ghost to me
Just a ghost to me
Even if you’re just a ghost

Even if you’re just a ghost
Even if you’re just a ghost

Baby I don’t think I’m seeing things
To me you’re not a ghost
Baby I don’t think I’m seeing things
To me you’re not a ghost

October has arrived

October has arrived.
But what is special about this month?
Until the 1970s (in Italy) the month of October was the beginning of the school and coincided with the 1st of October, the feast of San Remigio. Today everything is different and I also went to school when September was the month of the restart.
There is no longer the heat of summer. Perhaps there is also the desire for new life, despite the trees beginning to lose their leaves. After all, the fall of the leaves can mean a change of skin, even if the winter has to be overcome.
Many begin to think of melancholy, but instead it is only nostalgia, perhaps nostalgia for the past summer. But Nostlagia and Melancholy are different things. Nostalgia should make you want to experience past moments again.
The philosopher Kierkegaard said with an aphorism: “This is why I much prefer autumn to spring, because in autumn you look at the sky. In spring, the earth.”
