♬ TOM WALKER (feat. Masked Wolf) – Something Beautiful

LYRIC

Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh, oohI’ve been tryna find my way to leave
Stuck in the belly of the beast
It’s getting hard to breathe
Broken down, I’m turning in my sleep
Nothing is ever too steep
I’m tryna find my peace (find my peace)’Cause I’ve been feeling up, down
Put out, lost counts, of every sin
Just tryna find a new way, true say
Real change, it’s not too late
Fight away the darkness, new dawn, new day
Will breakI’m just holding on to happiness from all the pain from
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
I’m just holding on to happiness from all the painDrowning so much, I’m affected by the ripple
Feeling so low that I can’t even see the middle
Dark days, lost ways, made me feel little (ayy)
Tryna find the words like we be playing with the riddle
I know now I’ve been tryna hold myself (myself)
Looking in the mirror, I don’t know myself (myself)
Emotions on loan like I owe myself (what?)
Head out the window when I’m screaming for help’Cause I’ve been feeling up, down
Put out, lost counts, of every sin
Just tryna find a new way, true say
Real change, it’s not too late
Fight away the darkness, new dawn, new day
Will breakI’m just holding on to happiness from all the pain from
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
I’m just holding on to happiness from all the painWe find the light on darker days
We seize the joy through all the pain
We feel the love, won’t hesitate
Take every chance that comes our way
The little things, we appreciate
We fight for truth, a heavyweight
And every win, we celebrate
We celebrateSomething beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
We find the light on darker days
We seize the joy through all the pain
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
We feel the love, won’t hesitate
Take every chance that comes our way
Something beautiful (ooh, ooh, ooh)
The little things, we appreciate
We fight for truth, a heavyweight
I’m just holding on to happiness from all the pain
I’m something beautiful

The hide and seek of winter

[diary]

Where is the climate change?
In the extreme events that occur?

Today, November 7th seems to be a mild day in early autumn …
An abnormal heat …

Is the winter playing hide and seek? Or is it climate change?
Although I live in Abruzzo, on the Adriatic coast, where the climate is rarely harsh, I don’t remember such a heat.

Today I walked on the beach, where the sea was mysteriously calm …
The Adriatic coast – for the uninitiated – is less hot than the Tyrrhenian coast, where the current of the gulf arrives,
that has always warmed the Mediterranean. Furthermore, the mountains of Abruzzo do not allow the passage of hot air
west, often exposing the coasts to perturbations coming from the east.

But now winter, regardless of its game of hide and seek, does not seem to influence climate decisions …

5th November (2021) [UK]: Guy Fawkes Night

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Fireworks Night, is an annual commemoration observed on 5 November, primarily in the United Kingdom. Its history begins with the events of 5 November 1605 O.S., when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London; and months later, the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot’s failure.

Within a few decades Gunpowder Treason Day, as it was known, became the predominant English state commemoration, but as it carried strong Protestant religious overtones it also became a focus for anti-Catholic sentiment. Puritans delivered sermons regarding the perceived dangers of popery, while during increasingly raucous celebrations common folk burnt effigies of popular hate-figures, such as the Pope. Towards the end of the 18th century reports appear of children begging for money with effigies of Guy Fawkes and 5 November gradually became known as Guy Fawkes Day, even though Fawkes was not the leading figure in the conspiracy (who was Robert Catesby). Towns such as Lewes and Guildford were in the 19th century scenes of increasingly violent class-based confrontations, fostering traditions those towns celebrate still, albeit peaceably. In the 1850s changing attitudes resulted in the toning down of much of the day’s anti-Catholic rhetoric, and the Observance of 5th November Act was repealed in 1859. Eventually the violence was dealt with, and by the 20th century Guy Fawkes Day had become an enjoyable social commemoration, although lacking much of its original focus. The present-day Guy Fawkes Night is usually celebrated at large organised events, centred on a bonfire and extravagant firework displays.

Settlers exported Guy Fawkes Night to overseas colonies, including some in North America, where it was known as Pope Day. Those festivities died out with the onset of the American Revolution. Claims that Guy Fawkes Night was a Protestant replacement for older customs such as Samhain are disputed as England had no contemporary history of bonfires compared to North Wales and Scotland.
