CORONAVIRUS – The story from Italy: locked up in their own homes.

Today, 13th March is the second day when most of the citizens are locked up at home, and after the decree implemented on 11 March, only the curfew remains as the most extreme measure. Staying at home is not difficult but often you also need a walk, especially for those who live in the apartment.

We have to stay home until April 3rd. I learn from TV and internet news that today schools have also closed in Germany, where they have now exceeded 2000 co-infected. Many international VIPs have tested positive for Coronavirus and have already postponed some Europa League matches and the first Formula 1 grand prix in Australia.

Things to do at home would be many: the best thing would be to read a few books but often the web diverts our attention, especially with social networks, especially if the VIPs, like the singers, entertain us with their concerts from home, after they ran a whole campaign inviting all citizens to stay home ..

In addition to reading, many could discover the beauty and the art of writing or even drawing (or painting). In practice it can be a period to cultivate one’s passions or even to discover new ones. It is perhaps an unrepeatable period, which can divert us from the frenzy of everyday life and from the gloabal and social world.

The TV would be avoided, even if watching it a little never hurts … Of course if you are with your family it could be a burden to always be with your wife lol …
Every now and then you could go for a walk, for a breath of air, for sports or for the dog, but only if you are in an isolated area and without assemblies of people …

Better to avoid doing stupid things, such as going out to visit a friend or going to party .. in Italy thousands of fines have already been made to those who have transgressed the rules of the new decree ..
It is a time when you have to be responsible, although young people are the most carefree and less aware of the emergency situation. The virus could remain until the summer, although, according to what I learned from some statements by the heads of state of Germany and the United Kingdom, “almost” expects the virus to infect the whole population in order to trigger that mechanism called as ‘flock immunity’.

  1. That curfew is rather frightening. What are you doing for supplies? (I just published a post about our take on our situation here in the U.S.You might find it interesting.)

  2. Good information and blogging Gabe!
I just shared some Holy Scriptures with another fellow blogger that came up in my activities yesterday like a God Send. I think many will appreciate them here too.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”‭‭‬‬‬‬
    Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NASB‬‬‬‬‬‬
I add here one other that is at the top of my all-time favorite verses which my mother had a lot to do with it being so if not making sure it was my favorite!
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
I’m sure I should mention Psalm 23 makes me cry, it is so deep into my soul when I think of those words from God letting us know that nothing should be feared if we truly walk with the Lord our God in the Holy name of Jesus! Amen. 🙏 🙏
For the truly faithful this is not life, but a term of time spent through our prayerful contemplation, actual eternal life, and that is our only ultimate goal, nothing else! Lawrence

  3. It is always useful to follow independent sources to find out news around the world and the real state of affairs as folks on the ground are experiencing it. We will get through this, but it pays to be sensible about hand hygiene etc.Great suggestions. And blogging is a blessing in such times.
